If you have to wear glasses to read, you know how inconvenient it may be. Our Centre will soon become Poland's first to offer a modern method of laser presbyopia reversal (LAPR).
Refractive surgery can help people with presbyopia, i.e. all those who wear age-related reading glasses. Affecting majority of people above 40 years of age, this problem is and effect of natural physiological processes taking place the human body. Many people find it inconvenient to put on glasses for reading. That there are many of them can be reflected by the fact that a surgical method providing for reading without glasses was long sought for. It has become possible today. Thanks to the use of laser correction, also known as the LAPR method, thousands of people worldwide do not have to wear reading glasses anymore.
How does presbyopia develop? The eye lens gets wider with time thus giving the ciliary muscle that supports it less and less space to function properly, i.e. to flex the lens.
Primary qualification criteria:
- no distant vision correction (glasses, lenses); if the patient has this problem, then he/she should decide to undergo a laser vision correction at least six months earlier)
- practically full vision acuity in both eyes (ability to read the whole table without glasses),
- astigmatism lower than 0.75 D
- normal intraocular pressure
- generally in good health and without eye diseases
- no history of ophthalmic procedures (like cataract, glaucoma)
- allowed defect in both eyes: +/- 0.5 D
Qualification:
- depends on the result of the qualification examination.
The procedures takes around one hour. Both eyes are operated during this time.
In the LAPR method, an eye surgeon uses laser to perform 8 radial incisions. This simple procedure increases the dimension of the eyeball thus creating the necessary space for the ciliary muscles to flex.
The patient can see better already on the next day - but it is important to do rehabilitation in order to sustain the effect. Eyes need to be trained daily (a set of very simple exercises that can be done in a few minutes). It is also important not to wear glasses, even if the patient feels the need to do so.
Following a LAPR procedure, the patient must train his/her eyes (for a few minutes daily) - this is necessary to sustain the effect brought by the procedure.
Qualification examination - PLN 100
LAPR procedure PLN 6,000 PLN (2 eyes)

EPI-LASIK korekcja laserowaLaserowa korekcja wzroku zabieg o nazwie EPI-LASIK. New EPI-LASIK technology
EPI-LASIK is the latest achievement in vision correction technique. There are only 20 such facilities in Europe at present. We recommend it to centres with strong experience in refractive surgery because Epi-Lasik may successfully replace two of the three currently used laser procedures: PRK and LASEK. The Epi-Lasik technique itself allows for a very economical treatment of the eye: firstly, it allows for detaching a very thin epithelial flap with the use of special equipment instead of alcohol and, secondly, thanks to this, the flap comes back to its place alive. This is why the patient regains full visual acuity after just 4-5 days. Today, EPI-LASIK is the safest laser refractive surgery procedure. Personally, I can say I am happy that Epi- Lasik is available in Poland and that doctors who perform procedures of this kind have been excellently trained to do so.

Refractive surgery, laser correction
Description
Medicine has found new solutions for patients who cannot or do not want to wear glasses. These solutions are surgical methods, the latest of which is laser vision correction. We suggest it to:
those who do not like glasses
Glasses may of course be a piece of smart jewellery – but not everybody sees it this way. A number of people just will not accept this "decoration although it is necessary for correct vision. Many will not always find it comfortable to wear glasses, as they are cumbersome in everyday life and sports.
for those who need to be "hawk-eyed" at work
Some professions require full vision acuity. This is so among pilots, professional drivers and also firefighters. So, if you are considering to follow this sort of professional career and you have a vision defects, you must first correct it.
for people for whom glasses just do not work.
This happens with people who suffer from serious vision defects and those with the difference between vision defects in the right and left eye is above 2.5 D. Contact lenses may be an alternative then, but even they do not solve the problem for everyone. For instance, contact lenses do not work for people allergic to them or suffering from the so-called dry eye syndrome.
The procedure offers a once-and-for-all solution. It is only with people over 40 that reading glasses must be selected for physiological reasons. For people who have been wearing glasses - and strong, read thick, ones - since their childhood, getting rid of their glasses brings about also many life quality changes.
Laser correction helps in correcting:
short-sightedness (myopia),
far-sightedness (hyperopia)
astigmatism,
and combinations of these defects.
